Dr. Bessinger is board-certified in Dermatology. He earned his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and his MD, PhD, and Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine from Tulane University. He served in the US Army where he did his dermatology residency and was previously chief of dermatology at Tripler Army Medical Center. He has served as President of the Hawaii Dermatologcal Society and has been named one of Honolulu Magazine’s Best Doctors in Hawaii for several years. Doctor Bessinger’s professional and research interests include laser and skin cancer surgery.

Dr. Howell is a board certified dermatologist. She earned her undergraduate degree from Boston College and her MD from Georgetown University. Dr. Howell served in the US Army for 8 years where she completed her residency in dermatology at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. She previously served as the Chief of Dermatology at Ireland Army Community Hospital in Fort Knox, KY.  Dr. Howell has been named one of Honolulu Magazine’s Top Doctors in Hawaii.

Dr. Luria is a board-certified dermatologist. She earned her BS from Case Western Reserve University and her MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Luria completed dermatology residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center / National Naval Medical Center. She taught dermatology for several years at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and has given lectures at local, regional, and national levels. She served as Chief of Dermatology in Fort Drum, NY and in Fort Meade, MD. Dr. Luria has been practicing in Kailua since leaving the Army in 2011.

Dr. Crabtree is board-certified in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard University and his MD from Stanford University. Dr. Crabtree did his General Surgery training in San Francisco and Tucson and completed his Plastic Surgery fellowship in Washington DC. He served for 24 years as a surgeon in the US Army and was both Chief of Plastic Surgery as well as Consultant to the Surgeon General for Plastic Surgery during his tenure. Dr. Crabtree has served as President of the Hawaii Plastic Surgery Society. He also serves as the Hawaii State Representative for Government Affairs for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and has been named one of the Best Doctors in Hawaii by Honolulu Magazine.


Phycisian Assistant Howard graduated from the Army’s Physician Assistant program and received his Masters in Family Medicine from the University of Nebraska. As a PA, he diagnoses, treats, performs procedures, and prescribes medications. He has been working with Dr. Bessinger for many years and is highly skilled in all aspects of medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. PA Howard joined Hawaii Dermatology Centers in 2007 after 20 years of military service.

Phycisian Assistant Beaton, a health and wellness enthusiast, obtained her undergraduate degree in Human Nutrition from Colorado State University. She earned a Master in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. The first 10 years of her medical career, PA Beaton practiced family medicine and pediatrics in Colorado and Guam. Since moving to Hawaii and transitioning to dermatology, PA Beaton has maintained membership with the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, and practices medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology.  PA Beaton joined Hawaii Dermatology Centers in 2013.
